Zeus #2

Zeus is new to the program where he was transferred to us from a local high volume shelter as an unclaimed stray.  Although at first it appeared that things were maybe going to be easy to reunite him with his owner since a microchip was detected as well as having his name ”Zeus” written with marker on his nylon collar.  Unfortunately, there was no success with the microchip, as the implanter keeps no record on owner information, as they make it clear that it’s the owner’s responsibility to have it registered.  That apparently never happened.  More information will be posted once we get to know him better, but if interested in adopting please go to our website and submit an application.  All inquires can also email Pam at: orphandobe@ameritech.net
Update 10/7/12: Zeus had to be rushed to the vet one morning as he was lethargic, unresponsive and absolutely freezing. He seemed fine the day before. They had to put him on an IV and did bloodwork. He was looking better the next day but his bloodwork was quite off. It appears to be liver issues. He is still at the vet and they will be doing more bloodwork in a few days to see if medication helps his numbers improve.
Update 10/13/12: Zeus came home to his foster yesterday, but the vet still is not sure he will pull through this. His numbers are still quite off. He is on L/D dog food and medication for the liver and we will see if we get any improvements over the next few weeks.
Update 10/17/12: I am sad to report that Zeus crashed again and our vet said we should let him go as his liver is just not working correctly. Thank you for all who helped us try to save this little guy.
So far Zeus has cost us about 800 dollars with bloodwork, hospitalization, food and medication for the liver issues. We are still not sure if he will pull through this, but we want to allow him every chance to try.
