Hockey is slowly but steadily on the mend. He is continuing his demodex mange treatments and his hair is starting to fill in and he’s losing that molted look. When his mange is cured, he will have a beautiful blue and white coat. He is already quite the looker and will only get more handsome as he heals. He is also steadily gaining weight that was much needed. He still needs to gain about 5 more pounds and looks like he will fill out at about 60 lbs. when full grown in a year or so. Now that his health is improving, Hockey is much more active and feels a lot better overall. His energy level has picked up and his natural puppy curiosity is on overload. Here is a quick video of him playing with a toy: http://youtu.be/tS2VHjWMS8Y. Hockey is crate trained and mostly housebroken. He is still very much a puppy so it’s a work in progress! He just started a beginning obedience class with his foster mom and is doing great. Hockey loves going class (mainly for all the yummy treats and one-on-one attention)! At only 10 months old, he has had a bad start, but IDR+ vows to give him a better future. Statistics show that only one out of every 600 pit bulls in shelters get a chance to be adopted. Hockey was one of hundreds of pits at Chicago Animal Control, and we just couldn’t leave him there. His mange treatment will cost around $300. If you would like to contribute toward his cure, please help us reach our goal. Email Erin at majesticbourbon@gmail.com for more information about Hockey.
