Bugs is a young Doberman-mix who is as cute as a bug! The Doberman part of him makes him a master at the lean and cuddle. We aren’t sure what he’s mixed with, but it’s smaller than a Dobe since he is a little scrawny at 42 pounds. He’s 1.5 years old, so he should be full grown. His eyes are mesmerizing. He was picked up as a stray in KY, so we have no background on him, but he rode nicely in the car. As an only dog in a temporary foster home, he has been a perfect gentleman. His foster mom doesn’t understand why he keeps getting passed over in the nice boarding facility he has been staying in due to a lack of foster homes. Bugs ignored the cats when tested, and he picks and chooses which dogs to bark at when he meets them. Some he has no problems with, but some he wants nothing to do with. We always stress slowly introducing a new dog to existing ones, so we hope that will help him ease into the idea of living with a canine friend. In his temporary foster home, he was the only dog and was quite happy, and he was friendly with the neighbor dogs on the other side of the fence. Speaking of fences, he would appreciate a fully fenced yard instead of an e-fence, tie-out, or only leash walks. He loves to run around the yard, and his ideal home would give him that opportunity. When Bugs first came to us, he was a little unsure about things, but he has really blossomed and loves all of the friendly people who want to pet him and walk him. He gets very excited and wants to jump but will sit nicely for a treat! He also knows how to sit and wait for his food! He is housebroken and has nice manners, but he will be good motivation to keep your kitchen counters tidy. When Bugs first arrived in his foster home, he charging through any door that would open. Now, he is learning how to sit and wait! He is quiet in his crate and sleeps through the night and a regular work day. He loves playing fetch and chewing on durable bones. Bugs is a fast learner and wants to make his people happy. He loves treats, so training will be fun! Birds and squirrels are tempting, and he loves to chase after them in the yard. He also barked at and wanted to chase young neighborhood kids running past him, so we’d prefer to place him with older kids, if any. As a young boy, Bugs has tons of fun energy and will require an obedience deposit as well as an experienced dog owner to ensure his success.
