We adopted Beau after not having had a dog in the house for five years. We found him on the IDR website. We were struck by what a handsome guy he is, and then read on to find out that he was 8 years old and a mellow guy. We brought him home the first time we met him. Beau is a joy to live with. His worst habit is that he wants you to pet him all of the time! He likes everyone and we love him very much. He doesn’t like stairs, and fortunately we have very few. Whenever we leave he stays with friends and loves to sleep in other dog’s beds. Beau is a healthy 10 year old guy, and we hope he is around for us to pet for a long time.

Hello. I’m looking for a home for my 7 year old Peke-a-poo. We’ve had Binky since she was a puppy. Here is some info listed below. I realize that she has some issues … but we are really hoping to find a good home for her. Currently she is in a foster home. My very close friend agreed to take her until she could be re-homed. Please let me know if you can help us!!
-    7yr old Peke-a-poo
-    Approximately 10lbs
-    Has identification micro-chip
-    Has been spayed
-    Not good with children
-    Does not like to take walks
-    Does not like to wear a collar
-    Very intelligent, she knows the names of her toys. Will play fetch when asked to retreive specific toy.
-    Potty trained
-    Not good around other animals
-    Territorial around food
-    Does not get table food. Has only been allowed dog food and dog treats.
-    Cannot be let off her leash in open area. She will run.
-    Up to date with her vaccinations
-    Can be caged up to 12 hours and will not potty in cage
-    Has two cages and two beds that fit inside of them
-    She has a very nervous personality. Scares easily and is very jumpy at times.
-    Once she is comfortable around strangers she will let them pet her.
-    Gets groomed at Matteson PetSmart by Carrie. We bring her there each time because she is nervous around new people. She is comfortable with Carrie after going to her for so long.
-    Binky is generally very mild mannered. But, if she feels threatened she will bite. She seems to latch on to one person and become overly protective over them. She would be best placed in a home with somebody who is willing to work with her anxiety issues.
-    We would love to keep Binky, as she has become a part of our family. But, we have very young
children who do not realize they need to be gentile with Binky.

We adopted Vito in 2008 from a shelter. His previous owners had moved away and abandoned him. Vito, true to his bread, is a strong, working dog. He is mid-sized dog, weighing approximately 65 lbs and 7 years old. However, he thinks he is a lap dog, and can frequently be found on his owners lap, or sitting right next to him. Vito is a very playful, energetic dog, but he sometimes forgets just how strong he really is. He can play somewhat aggressively, though not with any intent to harm. He usually just doesn’t realize how powerful he is. Vito has also shown some aggression and uneasiness around our toddler which is why we don’t recommend him in a house with younger children. Ideally, the children should be at least 12 years of age, and work with Vito so that he understands and takes commands from them. Vito has been through basic obedience school and passed with flying colors. However, as with all dogs, he will sometimes get excited and forget those basic things. He is a very friendly dog, but will protect his owners if he feels a threat. He is also good with other dogs and cats. Vito is one of the few breeds of dogs who purrs. It sounds very much like growling, but his tail is wagging. It will happen frequently when he is getting attention. We normally feed him Chicken and Rice food, which we loves, and give him a variety of meat flavored treats. While we would love to keep Vito, we have a 3 year old child and another on the way, and although we love the dog, we don’t want to risk anything happening to the children. Hi! My name is Jack, and as you can see from my photos, I’m a very handsome red, “cropped and docked” Dober-boy! I will be three years old in March. I love people and like to be the center of attention! When I’m not playing, I love to watch TV and put my head on my owner’s lap. I’m definitely one of those “velcro” Dobes that will nudge and paw you for attention, so if you don’t like that sort of thing, I’m probably not your guy! My owner took me to obedience training and whoever adopts me should probably continue on with that so that I will know who the boss is! I know all the basic commands, although sometimes I like to pretend I don’t know what those commands mean. I think they call that being “hard-headed.” I guess I do like to test to see what I can get away with. I am crate trained and housebroken, and an indoor dog. I live with cats and two other dogs right now. I love to play but I’m a lot bigger than the other two dogs and sometimes I get too rough when I get really excited or when I try to tell those little guys that I’m the boss. I haven’t lived with children but I have liked being petted by kids when I’ve been camping.I will admit that I am not very good when I am on a leash and see another dog, so I’m probably better off not going for walks unless my new owners are willing to really work with me on that. I am pretty high energy and my owner has a cool attachment on her bike which allows me to run next to her when she’s bike riding. My current owners are worried that I might accidentally hurt the two little dogs I live with and that’s why they are looking for a new home for me. They are sad to be losing me, because I’m such a sweet guy, but they are hoping there’s a home out there somewhere that is a better match for me. I might be a good fit with another dog that I can play with, because I love to play. Or even if you don’t have another dog, if you’ll play with me, that would work too. My humans are also requiring a $100 adoption fee, which they are going to send to Illinois Doberman Rescue.

This little boy is an adorable pup born to what looks like a Pit Bull/Lab mom. He was born at the shelter on November 17th. She had 9 of them so it has been difficult for the shelter to find help for all of them. We offered to take one. He will be getting vetted and then into a foster home. Cute little owner surrender female Yorkie/Chihuahua/MinPin looking dog. Can’t keep was the reason listed on the card. Really sweet girl that did not seem freaked seem to be worried about much. Meet Tobey – he was picked up as a stray and sadly no one came to claim him. He is the sweetest dog and obviously was well taken care of. He is completely housebroken and is crate trained. He loves to play with toys and fetch is definitely his favorite game! He does great with both the large and small dogs in his foster home. He LOVES people and is great with kids but due to his exuberance and high energy would be best with ages 7 & up. He knows his basic commands but would definitely benefit from an obedience class. This beautiful boy was found wandering the streets and was very underweight. He is doing great in his foster home. He loves going for car rides and long walks. Frankie is an adorable little guy. He looks to be a Beagle mix puppy and he is about 4 months old. He had to be given up when the owners moved and he was not allowed in the apartment.
