Poppy is a 6-month-old puppy (born in May) who wants a home for Thanksgiving. She came to IDR+ at the end of August when she and her brother were picked up as babies on the side of the road in MO, so she has been working on housebreaking and basic training in her foster home. We aren’t sure of her breed mix, but she for sure has some bird dog in her, probably some English Pointer. She is about 30 pounds now, and she still has some growing to do, so adopt her now while she’s still a puppy! In her foster home, Poppy LOVES the kids and other dogs. In fact, she’d prefer to be placed with at least one other dog to be her BFF and keep her occupied. She is currently fostered with a large and small dog, and she loves to play with both of them. There are also kitties in the foster home that she likes to chase playfully, but if a dog-savvy cat tells her to back off, she will be good. Poppy is great walking on a leash, so she will not require a solid fence if you have a safe and secure plan for exercise and potty. On walks, she loves to sniff everything and explore every inch of this wonderful world. She has big beautiful eyes that want to take in every detail. She is used to her crate, but her puppy bladder is still learning how to go a full work day without an accident. In the house, she is almost housebroken. Poppy is a busy and inquisitive girl who is eager to learn. She will require an obedience commitment to ensure her success. She already sits for a treat and will wait for her meals. She is a voracious durable toy chewer (like a Benebone) and will gut stuffies. She’s an excellent motivation for the kids to keep their toys and clothes picked up. After she has spent her energy playing and exploring, she is ready for a nice cuddle on the couch to watch tv or just snuggle. If you are looking for a sweet puppy who won’t get too big and is great with kids, dogs, and cats, Poppy is your girl! Have something more to be thankful for this holiday!
