Sugar and Spice are adorable, friendly and active 1 year old male Gerbils who will steal your heart! They are very curious and love to come out of their cage to explore new things. If you put something new in their cage, they get very excited and run over right away to investigate. They will also happily take treats out of your hand! Sugar and Spice will quickly bond with their new family and will make a wonderful first time gerbils.

Sugar and Spice are very fun to watch when they are running in their wheel. They are full of personality that will entertain you for hours with their antics. When you walk into the room, Sugar and Spice are always watching what you’re doing and ready to come out to play! When you give them a dust bath, you will be delighted as you watch them roll around!

Sugar is very friendly and is very easy to pick up and handle. He loves to be with people and will run all over you and hang out on your shoulder. Sugar is a sweetheart who will enjoy a family to give him lots of love and attention. Spice is very friendly, but doesn’t love to be handled and prefers to play in his cage or with Sugar. Spice would be very happy with a family who will give Sugar all the love and attention and give Spice all the toys and obstacle courses to play with so he doesn’t have to be handled a lot.

Sugar and Spice are recommended for children 7 years and older because of how quick they are, which can make it difficult for younger children to hold them.

Since we are all volunteers, Illinois Doberman Rescue Plus only considers approved applicants to meet our orphans in our foster homes. Please email for an application if you are interested in giving Sugar and Spice their forever home. Their adoption fee is $24. Sugar and Spice’s foster home is in Schaumburg. Once your application is approved, we are happy to answer any questions you have.
