Because we are all volunteers, Illinois Doberman Rescue Plus only considers approved applicants to meet our orphans in our foster homes. The adoption fee includes vet exam, FIV/FeLV test, age-appropriate spay/neuter through IDR+ approved vet, age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal test, flea and ear mite check, and microchip. If you’re looking for a cat with a laid-back personality, movie-star looks, and just enough playfulness to keep things interesting, meet Sebastian.

This stunning 2-year-old American Shorthair is the definition of a cool guy. He’s the kind of cat who likes to hang out with his people, supervise whatever you’re doing, and then find the perfect spot to stretch out for a nap. While he’s mostly on the lazy side, Sebastian does enjoy playtime when the mood strikes and can often be convinced to join in on the fun.

Sebastian loves people and is great with kids. He has an easygoing, dog-like personality that makes him especially endearing. He’s not the type to spend all day hiding—he wants to be part of the family and enjoy the comforts of indoor life.

In his foster home, Sebastian enjoys playing with the resident female cat. He has made it clear, however, that he’s not interested in being best buddies with the resident male cat. Because of that, he’d likely do best as an only cat, with female feline friends, or with a slow and thoughtful introduction to any resident cats.

Sebastian is also FIV-positive, which sounds much scarier than it actually is. FIV-positive cats can live long, happy, healthy lives and often live right alongside other cats without issue. For Sebastian, it doesn’t define who he is—it’s simply one small detail about an otherwise wonderful cat.

What really matters is that Sebastian is handsome, affectionate, funny, and ready for a home of his own. If you’re looking for a low-maintenance companion with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Sebastian may be your perfect match.
