Opal was found wandering the streets of Chicago, extremely thin, with very long nails, a skin infection, and multiple pressure sores on her body.
After several weeks recovering in a foster home, with good quality food, meds for her skin and medicated baths, Opal has gained weight and is looking much better. She is now ready to find her forever home.

Opal gets along with the resident Dobes, but she can be a bit overwhelmed when the playing gets too boisterous, so a home with a laid back companion would be best. She would also be happy being an only dog in her new home. She loves to run laps in the back yard and play with the toys, so a fenced yard will be a must for her. When she is finished playing outside, she will bark at the door to come in, but she really prefers if her person stays outside with her to join her playing. She is quiet and clean in her crate, and has had no accidents in the house.

Opal is a very happy, affectionate girl and loves to lean against her foster mom’s legs to get as many pets as she possible can. She is on the smaller side so she will be perfect for the adopter who likes a more compact, manageable version of the breed.
