Ziggy is a 6-year-old Chihuahua with a big personality and a strong sense of who he is. Found as a stray, he was taken in by IDR+, fully vetted, and neutered. Since then, he’s been learning how to adjust to home life and has come a long way.
In his current foster home, Ziggy is doing well and enjoys the company of the other Chihuahuas, though he can still be protective of his food, crate, and favorite people. Because of this, he would thrive as the only dog in a home with someone experienced in the breed who understands typical Chihuahua behaviors like guarding and strong attachments.
Ziggy is house trained and does a great job letting his foster know when he needs to go out. He’s quick to take care of business and then heads right back inside—he’s definitely a couch enthusiast! When the foster’s visiting grandchildren are around, Ziggy generally keeps to himself. If he feels unsure, he quietly retreats to his crate where he feels safe.
Ziggy isn’t for everyone, but for the right person—someone patient, calm, and familiar with the quirks of Chihuahuas—he could be a wonderful little companion. He’s loyal, smart, and independent, with just the right touch of sass. If you’re looking for a dog who embodies all the classic traits of the breed, Ziggy might be just the pup you’ve been searching for.
