Meet Augustus. This special boy has been through more than any dog should ever have to endure, but somehow, he has come through it all with the sweetest soul.
Estimated to be around 7 years old, Augustus arrived at CACC as a stray in heartbreaking condition. His coat was severely matted, he was emaciated, and he had a grapefruit-sized tumor on his testicles. After receiving medical care, he developed frightening neurological symptoms that left him unable to stand. We weren’t sure what the future held, but Augustus wasn’t ready to give up. Slowly, he began walking again.
His tumor was surgically removed, and we were thrilled to learn that it was benign! His gait continues to improve, and he can now run up and down stairs without missing a beat.
Today, Augustus is enjoying the comforts of a loving foster home. He loves being near his people but isn’t overly needy. He’s crate trained, though he’d much rather sleep upstairs in the bedroom with his humans, curled up on his own dog bed. He’s a sweetheart with other dogs, ignores cats, is good with children, and is learning his potty routine.
Augustus has been through so much, yet he remains a gentle, loving soul. He’s simply beautiful, inside and out, and deserves a forever home where he’ll never again have to wonder if he’s wanted.
