Because we are all volunteers, Illinois Doberman Rescue Plus only considers approved applicants to meet our orphans in our foster homes. Please read our eligibility requirements and apply on our website: www.ildoberescue.com/adopt. After an application is submitted, additional inquiries can email dobes@ildoberescue.com.
Reese has settled beautifully into her foster home while she waits for surgery later this month, and every day we fall a little more in love with this sweet girl.
She has the gentlest soul. She takes treats ever so softly, carefully chews each one, and has impeccable house manners. Reese patiently waits to be invited through gates, stays out of the kitchen, keeps all four paws off the furniture, and is content to simply be near her people. She even greeted her foster brother with the sweetest kiss through the gate.
She enjoys leisurely walks and, for the most part, walks nicely on a leash, though we’re continuing to assess some intermittent leash reactivity. She’s looking for a home without cats or small animals, but if your home has plenty of soft beds, belly rubs, and naps on the agenda, Reese will fit right in.
Unfortunately, just as Reese should be settling into this new chapter, she’s facing another challenge.
At her veterinary appointment, multiple mammary masses were found that are concerning for cancer. Before surgery, she needs bloodwork and chest X-rays to determine whether the disease has spread to her lungs. Until those results come back, we’re living in the uncertainty that so many rescue dogs face.
Reese didn’t deserve to lose her home because her family’s landlord said she couldn’t stay. She doesn’t deserve this diagnosis either. But what she does deserve is every opportunity to receive the care she needs.
We’re asking for your help to make that possible.
Every donation—no matter the size—helps cover Reese’s diagnostics, surgery, and the medical care she’ll need as we learn more about her condition. Your support gives her the best chance at the healthy, happy future she’s finally beginning to experience.
Thank you for believing in dogs like Reese and for helping us give her every chance she deserves. ❤️
