Yurko is an 8-year-old male Doberman who was surrendered to Chicago Animal Care & Control when his owners could not manage his ear infections – possibly caused from allergies. His ears became so infected that he actually ruptured an eardrum. He is getting medication twice daily to help his ears heal.
In his foster home, he is a joy. Yurko has a wiggle butt that just won’t stop and he loves attention. He gets along fine with dogs, cats, and seems to enjoy the company of the children too. He has a little habit of destroying his favorite stuffies (he swears they just explode, it’s a strange phenomenon). He is crate trained, housebroken, and other than the casualty of some toys here and there, he’s been nondestructive. He does get a little anxious sometimes but is adjusting to life with his foster family more and more each day.
He seems to have a touch of Wobblers as his back end is a little unsteady. He should be kept on carpeted floors/rugs to help him stay on his feet. He can handle stairs if he needs to, but should not really be forced to navigate stairs on a daily basis since this is a progressive disease. He’s totally fine hanging out on the main level of his foster home’s two-story house.
