We have a wonderful little guy in our care! Meet Mr. Sippi! This adorable little 24-pound guy is likely a Feist (by definition: a small hunting dog, descended from the terriers brought over to the United States by British miners and other immigrants) and about 2.5 years old. He came to us from southern Illinois. He was in the care of a very loving foster home who gave us plenty of details regarding his likes, dislikes, general lifestyle, and background.

His story is all to familiar with us rescue folks. He came from Mississippi (hence his name) and was presumed to be dumped. Upon his rescue, he was skin and bones, and very scared. We don’t know what happened to him prior to that and we’d rather not know. He ended up testing positive for heartworms and was treated. He is now healthy, fully vaccinated, and great to live a great life with his forever home! In time, he gained weight with some TLC and quickly won the hearts of anyone he met.

Mr. Sippi is cat friendly… although likes to police them, but he’d never hurt a fly. He is excellent yard patrol and will warn nearby squirrels of his presence. He can hang with the big dogs but also knows to remove himself when they get a little too rowdy. He tried to befriend the sassy Chihuahua in his former foster, but she was not interested in any new buddies so he quickly gave up on her and learned to leave her alone. He also was great with visiting grandchildren. This special sweetheart has visited a senior living facility and was just a doll! Do dogs get any better than this?

Along with being crate trained at  night, he will sometimes retreat to his crate during the day to relax. He takes treats gently and just wants to be a best friend and foot warmer to his new family.
