Because we are all volunteers, Illinois Doberman Rescue Plus only considers approved applicants to meet our orphans in our foster homes. Peter joined our group in October 2023 and has been patiently waiting for his forever family to choose him. At about 2 years old, we cannot figure out why he keeps getting overlooked, his foster mom absolutely adores him! He came in at a skinny 59 pounds but has gained some weight and is looking gorgeous! His red coat shines in the sun and you can see the joy in his eyes when he gets some pets from his people. He has some fun energy and will be a blast to take to obedience class. He’s a smart cookie and ready to work! He is adorable with toys, he proudly carries his toys around almost all the time. He is curious and loves to explore. He does come when he’s called and goes right into his run. He does very well around the other dogs. Although he has not been completely mingled, Peter will sniff the other dogs and lick their faces and he does like to run a couple laps up and down the fence-line with whoever is next to him in his foster home. He will likely do just fine with other dogs after a slow introduction.
